Front diff / carrier case 94 4runner

While troubleshooting the non engaging 4wd system in my 94 4rnr I came across a 1/2 inch hole in the front half of the carrier case, nice sharp rock I'm sure (vehicle is new to me).
A couple questions: can I just replace the front half, or would the whole front diff need to be replaced. How can I tell what gear ratio I need 4.10, 4.88, 4.56 etc etc etc . Any other advice or sarcastic comment is welcom.

if you are referring to the actual front diff, you will need to replace the entire diff, there is no 'cover' plate as a jeep has.

Hmmm... I'm looking at a manual that shows how to take the front carrier case off the Differential; 8 bolts, a whack with a hammer then putting back-on gotta use some sealer goo - and Bobs you're uncle.
