Front crankshaft key size
Help! My '87 p/u's (22R engine) front crank bolt backed out on the highway. I got the truck stopped real fast, and there's no major damage to the harmonic balancer or crankshaft nose. I am pretty sure I just spun the pully on the crank a few rev's then got it shutdown. The bolt goes back in properly, and the harmonic slips onto the crankshaft with the same fit it always has. Both the harmonic and the crank are nice and smooth still. My problem is that the key that holds the harmonic in place on the crankshaft vanished somewhere on I-5 North of Harris Ranch...
And I can NOT find the size of the key so I can replace it. I measured it with a Micrometer, and I got an inside measurement of 0.095" on the harmonic's keyway. The closest key stock I can find online is a 3/32", or 0.09378". Is this right? Will this fit and hold correctly? Is there a part number for the key? If so, where can I find it? Can I order it online?
Any help on this will be hugely appreciated. I want to get my poor little truck going again...
