frame work?
I have a 87 toyota pickup with a rusty frame that is rotted in a few areas behind the cab. I saw someone that cut off their frame right behind the cab and made new, pretty simple frame rails and welded them on. I asked a buddy of mine about it to see if he could do it, but he said that if there was ever a problem with it he could get in alot of trouble. This makes sense but are there people that are lisenced to do things like this? If not i will just be looking for another frame, maybe an 85 but it needs to be extended cab which might be tough to find. thanks for any help!

Any reputable body / frame shop should be able to help you out. I gave my son a 1989 GMC that had the frame rusted out on. A shop in his area cut the frame in half and got another frame from a junkyard and cut the section from it to repair my sons. They cut the frame so that they were pointed on the ends ( ie. > < ) overlapped the points and welded them together then plated the top and bottom and put it back together. I dont know about building a new frame but hey it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck
