Flat towing a 4runner with a lunchbox locker

I'm looking at flat towing my 1987 4runner to the trails until I can build a car dolly (My plan: Load it on the dolly backwards so hubs can be unlocked and have the least amount of things spinning) My runner has a spartan locker in the back. How's that gonna handle the flat tow? I believe in theory it should just ratchet like normal and be fine, but I just don't like the idea of the extra wear on the gears and locker. Anyone done it and had any problems? I understand I am supposed to remove the rear driveshaft that's no problem. Thanks guys.

So you're going to put it on a car dolly backwards? If that's the case then you shouldn't have any problems with the driveline on or off because your back wheels won't be spinning and the locker shouldn't matter one bit because you don't want the tires spinning anyways because they will be tied on a dolly but you may run into other problems. Like the bed of the truck will stick out farther than the front bumper would if you load it normal and you may come into contact with the tow vehicle. Also I would think you would want more weight on the dolly than you do on the ground ( you want tongue weight on a trailer I know but I'm not sure if it matters as much with a dolly because I don't use them) and one more thing is you probably want to make sure the steering is locked as straight as possible.
personally I would just take the rear driveline off and stick the front tires on the dolly I don't think the locker being much of an issue as long as your not taking a bunch of super sharp turns or you could just find a trailer and not worry about it
