FJ80 Wheels on First gen 4runner?

I'm talking about the 90's model wheels that all the 3rd gen guys run. Has anyone done it? If so let's see some pics. I'm thinking about going this rout and then doing some weld on beedlocks for my 85 4runner. Thanks!

My buddy had the FJ80 alloys on his 88" Runner. They worked good, but not enough backspacing for tires over 31's imo. wheel spacers??? I would just go for something else...

I think they look great. If you have manual hubs you will need to drill out a hole in the front center caps.

What do you mean? Are you saying if I want to have center caps in the front I would need to drill them out? Thanks!

Anthony

By the way I really like the way those look. Would look real good with some bigger meat rapped around them.

FJ80's are full time 4wd so they don't have lockout hubs. If you have lockout hubs in the front of your truck that have to manually turned to engage 4wd they you have to drill about a 4 inch diameter hole in the center cap with a hole saw so you can access them. If you look at the 1st pic I posted you'll see that the front center cap is missing all together.

This is how it should look when done right.

That makes since. I was just planing on not running center caps up front because of the lockouts. But now that I know you can make it work by drilling it out (I think that looks nice) that's probably what I'll do. Thanks!

Actually the whole cap will fit over the hub. When the time comes to lock the hubs, pull the caps, turn the hubs, reattach center caps. In the case of the above pic, we just tossed them in the cab.

Or you could just run capless it might not look as pretty but might be operationally better... Some of the Mitsubishis with the aisin hubs have a chrome tube surround on them. The appearance effect is very similar to the drilled out cap above, the mitsu's version reportedly tends to fill up with water and crud speeding corrosion...

Toyminater that is a very sharp clean looking truck... if you have'nt already you should submit a pic to our calendar thread...
