check oil level, check with mechanical gauge, if everything checks out there, replace sensor.

No leaks...I hate a leaky engine and make sure I fix and prevent any....Where is the sender on the 3vz..I may just swap to a mechanical gauge and check the pressure manually..it seems odd because to me if I had a problem it would be the reverse of the way its happening..it should come on at idle, and go away at higher RPM's where the pump is turning faster...?

theoretically yes, assuming the sensor AND the oil pump is still good...

These pressure numbers are pretty much what people around here get for the 3.o at start up and initial idle. Goes to 100 with rev. Once settles, down around 25.
The wire coming off the pressure sender is prone to bend/break at the sensor end. For pics on all this, see my recent link:https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...ensors-153167/ , I am going to update with my own pics when done (soon)

seriously?
sounds like the pressure relief valve is sticking.
but even 80 is high at idle, so there may be something plugging a passage down near the pump.

an oil pressure chart I found lists 3vze normal oil pressure at 4000 rpm should be between 36-71 psi

sounds like a problem

I don't know what pressure the regulator valve kicks in @ on the 3vze, but I doubt its anywhere near 80psi...

Maybe I am about to explode, but, like some others:
About 100 at cold start up
a few minutes later 25 at stable idle/cruise
bumps up as high as to 75 during acceleration

Just checked the fsm

3vze: 93 fsm says 77 psi on the relief valve
  • 4.3 psi @ idle
  • 36-75 psi @3k rpms

22re: 85 & 93 fsm say 64 psi on the relief valve
  • 4.3 psi @ idle
  • 36-71 psi @3k rpms
