boring may add some cleareance since the boring is a 'rough' machining process and 'honing' is a 'fine' process. it is techinally possible for the honing process to add another .010 (ten thousands) to the bore diameter

there is some leeway between the piston size and the ring size
So what do I need?

I know I need bigger pistons (.030) but now what?

Should be picking up my block today. I bought an intake (the piece that I bent) for $10 with injectors! lol.

Now I need to clean everything up...and put it back together. I'll take some pics when I get my block. Thanks!

Okay. Put the crank in today. Moving along nicely. Have to take in the rods to get the bushing removed and to put the new one in.

Freeze plugs...what do I do with them?

if they are still in the block, pull them out and replace them. i always replace them with a rebuild.
if they aren't in the block, put new ones in the big holes.

See there is my problem. They are still in the block...so how do I remove them? Am I supposed to use a sealant to put them back in or something like that?

New clutch kit and injector seals. Taking my flywheel to get resurfaced and to get new bushings put in rods to machine shop.

Got the freeze plugs out. Took rods to machine shop along with flywheel to get resurfaced. Then I'll have to put the rings on.

how do I put rings on?

Got the parts back from the machine shop. Okay...now time to assemble the engine. I still need to plastigage the crank with the new bearings right? And the rods? Thanks

if you've bought new bearings all around, then yes, plastigauge them just to make sure the clearances are correct and if they're not, take the bearings back and get the proper sized ones.

did you figure out the rings? there is a tool called a 'ring spreader' made specifically for getting the rings on the pistons.

Yeah...I'm pretty sure my dad has that tool. I might just have to buy one though. Should I plastigage EVERY one...or just one and call the rest good? lol. That would kinda be skipping a step though. It should be WAY easier now since its on a stand. Thanks!

Okay...crank is now in and tight...and within specs. Putting the pistons in and I got the first one in...and for some reason it is really hard to turn it over...is that normal???

did you put some assembly lube (or vaseline ) on the bearings? and maybe spray some oil on the cylinder walls?
