I have a truck but similar situation in that the stock channels that the oe bumper mount on are way too low. I fabbed a 3x6 tube with a step and flared ends and welded to those channels but mutch higher and used gussets to transfer potential load. However it blocks my plate and I get pulled over because of these every so often.

Love the philmont sticker! I just got myself a 94 runner that my dad put plenty philmont stickers on. I was looking at the hitch on it also and figured the same thing others said, it would be low and scrape like said fat chick on gravitron (very odd mental image going on now....)
