Factory "Jack" Kit for 1986 SR5 Xtracab Question(s)
Hey gents:
I recently bought a 1986 SR5 Xtracab pickup and am in the process of restoring it. I am working on getting the original jack kit together and here is what I have:
Here is the spot in my extracab where the jack goes (I think):
My questions for those with the original jack kit or knowledge of it:
1) Does this ebay auction for the jack kit include everything? http://www.ebay.com/itm/221085119814...84.m1423.l2649
2) Does the jack just snap in thet metal compartment in my picture or am I also missing some kind of clamp that holds it in place?
Thanks Broyotas!

On my 1988 Pickup there was also a brown metal rod that extended the long rod with the hook on the end and connected into the brown crank. If you have steel center caps, there is a gray rubber coated installation tool to prevent denting the center caps. And the jack is held in by both extending it in the holder and a big rubber band with a loop on one end and a metal hook on the other.

I don't think your lug wrench is correct for your restoration. Why would Toyota give you two? The lug wrench is separate from the crank for the jack which is shown in the auction. But the auction also shows a different bag. Yours is velcro and the auction shows a bag with a strap and buckle (my 87 and 88 use this type).
Are you going for a full concours restoration?

Well now you're making me feel kind of silly for driving around with a 3 ton floor jack in the back of my 4Runner
My 86 4runner also came with two lugnut wrenches and that exact same kit although the jack location itself was much different. That looks just like the jack holder that was in that truck you are just missing the black rubber band with a hook to hold it in. I'm fairly confident the kit came that way originally because to my suprise the guy still had the original owners manual in the glove box but I'm no expert. The most bastardized part of every truck I've bought has usually been the jack/spare tire kits.
As said earlier, you will also need the long hook and the T fitting for the rear spare tire hanger.

Picked up a factory 88 complete Jack set off Ebay which I believe is the same that was used in an 86. Got it put in today:
I can't figure out where the crank bar goes though. My manual shows it latches on to something in the extra cab but as you can see in my picture I can't quite figure out where that is...

The regular cabs have a bracket to hold in the crank bar where the shelf would go in the Xtra cab or where your nets are...mine just sits on the floor behind the jack mount. I've seen this alot in the junkyard.

I know I am way behind here, but I just saw this. I sold Toyota's from 1988 to 2009 and I am just trying to remember how the stuff looked. Jack is held in by tension between the two plates in the storage compartment under the rear seat. The "rubber band" has brass colored loops on either end to hook it securely to the floor. I know the correct bag would have had the buckle clasp. The 2 lug wrench comments; are you sure that it is not the extension for the spare tire winch that you are looking at? The lug wrenches on these trucks came with an odd hinged extension that you locked into place to raise and lower the winch for the spare tire. If I remember correctly, that extension could be disconnected to use the lug wrench to remove the wheel.
I'm sorry, it's been so long I can't keep them all straight. The 86's run into the 90's into the 94's in my mind.

I figured this out!
I had the same questions as the OP regarding factory original tire changing kit and where it goes, tried googling it to death, but then I realized that you can look at BringaTrailer.com. Search for Toyota Pickup, then find your truck, they are mostly factory original trucks with 150 high res photos each, Look for the photos behind the seat and bingo!
Hope this helps someone in the future!
