Factory 4:88 Question

Ok, I was at the local pick'n'pull yesterday, and there is a 4Runner in there with an axle code of G144 - so 4:88. My question is will the Yukon Gear Spool I have (bought for my factory 4:10 carrier) fit in a 4:88 carrier?
Thanks for any help!
Larry

Yes....the spool will fit just fine. It's the "usual thick ring and pinions" that won't. So bolt the 488 thin gear onto the spool, swap the carrier bearings over, and set your BL to about .006~.008" and put about 100 ft/lbs of torque on the adjuster wheels for proper CBPL and you're all set.

edit- You might think about sending the spool and G144 3rd to me....let me set it to spec. I can replace the seal at the same time. Might even make a link of it and add it to my webpage.

First off, thanks for all the help! I guess I'm gonna get some 4:88!

Thanks Zuk for reafirming my suspisions! And I'd really like to send them to you, if you'd like to pay shipping both ways! J/K I'd really love to but shipping would kill me. !'ll let a local speed shop do it for me! Thanks again!

You have a point there....I just noticed you are in Canada I did one for Canada and with the duty taxes it worked out to 120 USD for me to send it back to him....that is pricey ....and multiply that times 2. It was a thought anyways. ZUK

I certainly would send it if it wasn't so expensive, but I can get it done here for $140.00. Cannot wait!

Zuk's page tells you how to do it, and I've got a writeup floating around yotatech (doesn't cover removing the bearings though). If you can borrow the tools, I suggest you do it yourself, resetting backlash is not hard, it will take you maybe half an hour the first time.
