Extended Cab room ?

I am considering buying an 89 to 96toy truck with an ext cab. I would like to know from first hand experience if there was enough room for two small kids (6) and (4) to fit. I had a couple of 4runners but I need a truck. This will not be my everyday truck and the kids may only see the back every month or two. We have a family van for the day to day driving.

Is there any differences from the 89-94 95-99 models as for as the back seat goes?

Anyone switched from a 4runner to a truck or from a truck to a 4runner? Any regrets?

Thanks for any input!!!

I have a '93 Ext-Cab. It is a little tight with my friends and adults, but I don't mind. I'm very happy with the two small jump seats and a full 6ft bed to carry camping stuff, lumber, bikes, etc. For your kids it should be fine. Note there is not enough room for carseats though.

Does the 4 year old have a booster seat? I dont think any type of booster seat would fit into the back of my '86, dont know if the second gens are bigger.

My 4 year old is still in the booster seat. I know the 86 model seem smaller in the back thats why I am looking into the 89 to 94 model.

Thank

A booster seat wouldn't be safe in the cab IMO. Just sit him down and buckle him up. Booster and child seats are only meant to sit in a full seat. The little flat seats back there would make me nervous.

As for room, our kids sat in my 95 at that age and had plenty of room even with my seat all the way back.

I just bought one of each...

I have a booster and child seat in my 89. There are places to bolt hooks for the back of a child seat. You pull a little plastic tab off and there is a nut welded to the back of the cab. You can get a hook from the dealer or make your own. I made my own from 1/4 in plate and bolted it in. Also the boost seat is fine for my 7 year old back there. They are under the window with lots of room. Very good truck. No adults back there though very tight.

similiar reason, but for me it was between the quad cab and the 4runner. no regrets and no friends borrowing

kids may work but every adult i've put back there was angry after a while. I took the seats out of mine since people would rather ride in the bed than in the cab
