How exchangeable are the parts from 85-88 22re and 89-95 22re? I'm doing an engine rebuild and I am having a really hard time find 86-88 parts, and I know the upper intake mod is a good one to do if you can find one cheap.

I am thinking exhaust, intake upper and lower, and fuel injectors. I'm most likely buying a new head and cam from engnbldr. I just have a lot of older parts with a lot of miles and was thinking if I saw something cheap I would get it the next time I am at the yards

Ok it's been about a week and no luck on getting any further into knowing what I will need to make my swap. I have a great deal on a 93 upper and lower intake with venom injectors from what I can tell these things a will not fit the wiring on my 86 4runner but they will work with my new RV head I am going to be installing. So my question is can I swap some parts off another 22re to make the injectors work? Any help would be great even if I am doing a google search wrong or can find the info by reading a sit I can't seem to find. Also pics would help me a lot too

 

Best way to check is to look up part numbers.. Same part numbers = same parts, different = not the same, but possibly interchangeable

 

I know they part numbers are different... yota changed a lot of parts between 86-88 and 89-95... I was curious if I could just swap in a few extra parts from the late model

 

not the best for parts comparison but O'reilly's website has a feture on its website that once you enter the vehicle and select a part you can click the compatibility tab under the part. might help...

 

get the connectors for the newer style injectors and solder/heatshrink them into your harness!!

cheap, easy and 100% reliable if you do it right!
