Error 52, won't run

I have an 89 Toyota pickup, the 3vze efi. It has about 400k miles. I recently replaced the fuel line to the cold start injector and the fuel dampener after a leak developed under the intake manifold. I am in Alaska.

Last night (about ten below) I went to start it. It had been running 8hrs prior and was plugged in. After starting up great and running for a few minutes it sounded like it wasn't receiving enough fuel. I ran back, gave it gas, it still died when I took my foot off the gas. Started up again just fine. Gave it plenty of gas. Back fired. Wanted to stall out when I took my foot off the gas. Wanted to flood out if I gave it gas. Each time I started it the time it would run was progressively shorter. Currently it turns over and "catches" but doesn't run. It has a code 52. Where should I start?

A knock sensor code shouldn't stop it from running.
Fall back on the basics. With spark, fuel, compression, and reasonably close timing you have internal combustion.
Confirm spark, then check fuel.
-10. Damn. I pray you have a heated garage

It's flooding out on start up. Assuming cold start injector. Did a test doesn't seem to be fuel pressure regulator.

What test? Are you sure you have the vacuum plumbing correct? (Check the under-hood sticker.)

The CSI is trivial to check. Remove the whole CSI from the intake plenum (do NOT remove the fuel line; you'll have to replace the two crush washers if you do). Pressurize the fuel system by jumpering FP to B+. Any drips? Reinstall the injector and disconnect the electrical connector. Any change on start-up? If not, it's not your CSI.

You're right, my friend who's driveway it died in pulled the CSI plug and it didn't make a difference. Where would you start?
