I'm replacing the power steering pump on a 90 4Runner. Can't get the pully of the pump. Any Ideas? Book says put pressure on belt but that doesn't work. Need help soon Kid needs ride to school.

you have to go to a parts store and rent a pulley puller. Power steering pump pulleys come off different then others

Actually the power steering pump pulley PULLER won't work on V6 yota's. THere is nothing on the front of the pulley after you remove 17mm bolt for the puller to garb onto. Trust me I've been through this just recently. Mine was rusted on the PS pump shaft and even with hammer it wouldn't come off.

Like the others said, try to get a hammer or punch in there, but its tough. You can't REMOVE the pump from the car until you have the pulley off !!! Lots of fun.

If all else fails you can pull it off with a gear puller, but that will most likely bend the outer rim of pulley before it is jarred loose. I bent my back and it didn't wobble while running, but I bought a replacement one from NAPA for like $28 bucks just to be safe.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
