boreing a motor will do nothing but be less efficent by itself. if you were going to do some head work, and incease the amount of fuel and air that will be put into that bored cylinder then yes you would knowtice a difference, but really imo id keep her as close to stock bore as you could, boreing can cause cooling problems and make it easier to crack the cylinder wall.

If you're just going to hone and not bore it, use a quality set of cast rings, not moly rings.

I would wait to see what the inside of you engine looks like before you bought the pistons. as for engnbldr Todd is a super helpful guy and i would recommend him.

maybe the 22R block castings are harder steel than other blocks, usually a moly ring on an old bore will eat it up.. anyone know much about the Toyota block castings? I ended up using moly rings with a new .020 bore (from engbldr by the way)

Feel the inside of your cylinder at the top. If there is a little lip then you will have to bore it. But as mentioned I wouldn't go more then .020 over. If no lip, just get a get hone job. Without a good hone, rings wont seat properly.

ok guys...i have a dilemma.........WHICH CAM!?!?!?!?!?!...

i either want the 261*C or the 268* from engnbldr...

i will be doing some towing...which makes me lean towards the 261..but..idk how much of a 2500-4500 rpm range it will give me...i know thats where the 268* shines..i want to be able to pass on the interstate going bout 80..lol..

i want the truck to be fast if i need it to be...i've had to make some hospital runs in my 2002 dodge diesel 4x4 i used to have...and it had the power to cruise up 120mph..no problem at all...now i know my yota wont be doin that...but if i do happen to need to make a hospital run for my gf..mom..dad...grandma..grandpa..whoever...then i want my truck to be up to the task of getting said person there as quick as possible...at its current state of STOCK...it wont do more than 75-80..and thats on a GOOD day..i want to be able to cruise past 80 on flat ground..

but i also have an 18ft nitro..(yea i know..need a bigger truck to stop it..but cant afford one) and taking it to the lake..and pulling it out of some steep boat ramps is a must....so which cam???..

or if anybody knows of cam that would be more suited for my needs...please tell me about it...i need a cam that gives me GREAT low end torque for haulin the boat...and i need one that has great top end power for haulin ass..thanks guys!

For goodness sake, just pick one. None of them will do it all. Here are the specs on the different cams per 4crawlers site.
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...shtml#CamSpecs
The TRD numbers are a bit different from the cams of other makers, but they are all similar and you can get the gist of it. We're only talking about a difference of 300-400 rpm. If I had to pick, I'd get the 261. You get grunt right from idle and only pay for it by a couple hundred rpm at the top.

As far as hospital runs, your first order of business is to get there safely and in one piece. Your 23 year old truck really has no business going above 80 miles per hour in any circumstance. Do you not have EMS where you live?

AHHHH DECISIONS!!!!!!!!! lol..

yea..we have EMS...but when the people arent smart enough to find you..or when you dont have the money to pay for the ride in the EMS...its better to waste a few bucks on gas..rather then thousands on EMS
