Question engine/ transmision swap ?????

I have a 22ret turbo automatic 4runner and want to swap in a 22re with manual transmission. any one else do this? does it sound do'able?

Most people prefer the turbo over the NA motor.
The engine and transmission will drop in. Ideally you'd get the wiring harness from the 22RE version also, as the engine side connectors may differ. Some people say it will work with the 22RTE wiring harness, but the 22RE actually has more ECU functions than the 22RTE.

Can you keep the 22RTE and do a manual - that'd be the easiest thing?

With a 7.5:1 compression ratio, it would be an incredibly gutless 22RE...

Any reason you want to get rid of the 22RTE? Swapping in a manual is easy enough if that's all you're trying to acheive.
