Engine temp sensor question

I've had some idle issues. Usually high at cold and often very low when at running temp. Question is, should I see a change in engine speed when I pull of the connector to the engine temp sensor at normal running temp. It doesn't change at all when I pull the plug.

I don't know if you'd see a noticeable rpm change, but more than likely there would be a mixture change, as the ECM uses the temp sensor to adjust lean or rich mixture.

Ok, so most likely, I'm looking at an auxiliary air control problem perhaps. I wasn't able to get the aac out last time I had the throttle body off. Looks like it wants a slotted C-spanner or some special tool.
Can't think of anything else that influences idle apart from the idle control screw, which by altering, has an effect but doesn't solve the problem.

Cheers for the help, Cuba

i would suspect one of to things. Idle air control valve and or the o2 sensor.

make sure you have a denso o2 sensor first. If not that is the first issue to fix.

The 3vze has the water temp controlled air valve. I thought the o2 sensors would throw up a code if they fault. I wonder which one to look at, my truck has two. Guess I could try just pulling connectors and see if there's any change for a start.

Dark Fairytales, I used to live in Citrus Heights. Weird for a lad from NZ huh?
