My 86 22RE started surging last week. It only does it while holding the brake down. I checked the booster check valve but it seems to be working right. Any ideas?

 

set timing and idle to factory specs. make sure the coolant is full.

 

x2 if ur idle is set to high it will surge when the brakes are applied, long story short...

 

I'm just wondering does it do it when have it in park or just drive and when you have your foot on the brake?

 

No park or drive, 5 spd. I'll check the idle, thanks guys. Funny you should say check the coolant, After the truck sits over night it will push all the water out of the bottle. I can fill it back up and it will empty the bottle again. Changed thermostat and rad cap but same thing.

 

sounds like your head gasket is leaking.

 

ya I agree, I think its the head gasket cause my truck was out of coolent and I continued to fill it up and then like a month later my head gasket blew and sry didnt see that it said that... my bad.
