Engine Rebuild.. While I am in there.

I have a 1991 3.0 V6 4Runner with an engine that needs to be rebuilt.
I am trying to compile a list of things I should do while I am in there.

So far, my list consists of:
New O2 sensor
new knock sensor
clutch t/o bearing, pilot bearing and pressure plate
-Thinking about the MC ceramic clutch set.
Replace all vacuum hoses
replace all heater hoses.
Inspect radiator hoses and replace as necessary.
NWOR headers
ISR mod, though I found some trick high temp silicone piping that I might use instead of haivng a piece of steel tubing bent up.

Feel free to add to or delete from the list as necessary.

Also, I did consider a 3.4 swap, and decided against it.
Thanks!

a lot of the vacume hoses will be ok. If you buy all new heater hoses your looking at a serious chunk of $$. the few i HAD to buy set me back $30 for like 3 diffrent hoses.

Have your injectors cleaned/rebuilt.
unless your Timing belt (TB) is and stuff is new within the last 30K id be looking at all that 2

TB, idler pulleys, water pump, upper/lower hoses.

dont forget to add the cost of a new exhaust.

If i had to do again id be looking at those new cams that were being discussed also

I am getting a set of head studs.

I got a killer deal on an OEM Toyota gasket set (includign head gaskets)
-Should I run the stock head gasket, or should I look into some of the graphite head gaskets?

Timing belt, idler pulleys, spark plugs, cap, rotor, wires, and water pump are new OEM parts withing the last 3,000 miles.

I will be ordering weasy2k's cams shortly.

I got a deal on some NEW OEM fuel injectors.

Port and polish kit is on the way, should I port and polish before the valve job or after?

NWOR headers and cross pipe will be ordered when they are available (they are having supply problems, and wont' be available until end of july or august).

Honestly Id leave out the OEM injectors, and just have them rebuilt by cruzin performance. (Unless you have one heck of a hookup! hehe)

In my case I had mine rebuilt after 235,000 miles and the worst flowing one was only 3% off of OEM specs!! (They give you before and after flow tests.) When I inquired about this, they said it was pretty common for the 3vze's injectors to be nearly flawless with extrodinary amounts of miles on em!

I pulled the truck apart tonight...

MAN is it a mess under there.
The upper and lower intake are filled with gunga.
the plastic tips of some of the injectors is chipped and/or broken.
And there are little bits of plastic in the valleys below the injector rails.

Holy Crap! Man, I thought MY engine bay looked dirty!
Bumpin'Yota has a thread going now with lots of details on his teardown, including great pics. I'd suggest you search on his ID and find it for some good tips...
