engine noise found

for about 6 months ive had a noise coming from my engine bay that i could not find. sounded like an exhaust leak or a bearing going out. so today i was looking around and found that the rubber boot for the steering column going through the fire wall was gone. so what im saying is if you have any noise you cant figure out check that rubber boot. what im hearing is the exhaust running through the pipes and the sound is coming in the truck through this boot. go figure!!

That steering shaft seal is very prone to going bad. I have replaced a ton of those. Its amazing how much noise that little thing blocks
