Engine from new into old question

Get a quick question for yall, Ive got a 1988 4x4, P/U with a blown 22RE with Excellent Trans....my question is i have found a 2006 engine and transmission with 21k on both for $1600, however they are from a 4x2!!! Do you guys think that this engine and trans would fit to my Transfer Case without changing the front shaft rear drive shaft etc? If not anymore suggestions? Any help is apprecitated!!!

I think you're gunna have more problems than the trans bolting up... what motor is this you're talking about putting in it?

Well what exactly is wrong with the 22re? Blown head gasket? Rod through the block? Spun bearing?

If the block and head are still intact, it may just be cheaper, and a whole lot easier just to rebuild it, or have it rebuilt for you.

If you go the route you're speaking of, you're talking about pretty much gutting that other truck to make the motor work in yours. You would need the motor, the entire wiring harness with it, the ECM, and you would probably have quite a bit of custom wiring as well. Plus I don't think the motor mount spots will line up either, so custom mounts would be in order. More than likely, you would need the trans from the donor vehicle as well. Not sure if the t-case from an older model will bolt to the trans of a newer one either...

You would be better off fixing what you have or finding another 22RE to swap in. I bought my '94 with 84,000 miles on it for $700.
