What year/model? You might need to run a diagnostics device to figure what is going on. Either take it in to the mechanic to get the reading ($60), or try to see if the local AutoZone will let you run their scanner for free (some do).

Good luck!

93 is ODB1 - you'll be better of with a paper clip counting the flashes save yourself the hassle of driving to AutoZone waiting in line then them telling you they can't help.

my 91 with a 22re use to do that exact same thing running down the road... the light would come on, the struck would spit and sputter and loose power to the point of slowing down, and it would only last about 5 seconds, then it was back to normal...

I have since replaced a LOT of things ranging from the TPS, O2 sencor, dissasymbled and cleaned the intake manifold, replaced every vaccum line, changed the fuel filter, and so on and so forth...

best bet would be to read up on pulled the codes with a jumper wire or paperclip and seeing if any codes are stores (mine had about 5 codes stored, so I just started replacing parts, lol)
