Engine keeps stalling
#22
Ok MudHippy, Saturday has been reserved for fixing my truck only. I'v got a couple people out there with me so we should find something. And Ill be damned if Im not checking that damn EGR first thing. So I should have a good update Saturday evening, if I don't solve it tomorrow.
Until then, my ohm reading for the AFM was off. What might that mean?

I'm just too curious...
Lifelongtoy, I did ask you that before. Glad you noticed it, though. That helps to troubleshoot alot.
Mudhippy, no gratuitous gestures just yet!
We're still waiting to see what he finds, aren't we?
I could be eating crow after all is said and done! And I may be out of ketchup....(shakes the bottle)!
BTW, did you check that sensor yet?

Tomorrow the sensor gets checked, everything gets checked, EVERYTHING! Absolutely everything I and my mechanic friend can think of, as well as the aformentioned beer drinkers who occasionally scoot in close enough to wiggle a wire or something with that curious look on their face.
Oh yeah, ANYBODY know what a faulty reading on that AFM would mean, E2-Vb is bad? (see diagram above)

Where in Forth Worth are you lacated? I am having some of the same problems and it would be great if I can watch/help/drink beer as you try to fix your truck. In doing so maybe I can learn enough to fix mine. I am on the Westside by Carswell.

So after 8 hours of a tinkering' and a guessin' and one bloody finger, I figured it out......drumroll.......ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO #1 INJECTOR AND A MINOR VACUUM LEAK. So there it is , my mystery solved. The splice from the resister to the injector was broke which caused it not to inject anything, which caused the cylinder to be dead, which caused the bad acceleration. That, coupled with the minor vacuum leak was enough to make it die at idle. Case closed.

I called the vac leak, but forgot to mention it would do basically same thing as bad EGR. Gotta admire the stick-to-itiveness, well played! Thanks for lettin' me rack my brain for ya. Seriously, I eat, sleep, an' breathe TOYOTA, pleasure's all mine.

hmm wish i would have sen you thred earlier coudl have told you that it was injector related from day one. Hesitation is most always caused by some major fuel/ ari problem. my injectors were partialy pluged and they would run lean then the comp would try to compensate and dump to much and it owuldnt idel or accelerate it was almost liek how it wants to die when you get low on gas right?
