engine cuts out at 4000+ rpms (22re)

i swapped out an engine i had in a truck i recently baught, the engine i put in it was out of my old 4runner and i remember it used to do this but not as bad

When cold i don't think it does it, but once its well warmed up, if you give it enough trottle the engine basicaly dies right their, you let go the gas and it will refire, its kinda like fuel completely shuts off or ignition or something... I normally just turn ignition off and back on again even while moving and the symptoms go away for a few minutes but then come back.

It wont always be cutting at the same rpms, but normally it will be 4-5-6000rpm range or if you just stomp on the gas real hard it will still do this at low rpms also.

I am pretty sure this has to do with a sensor, i remember i wasn't runnign and o2 sensor in my 4runner and this truck does have it, the 22re has an aftermarket cam (270 h.o. rv cam) could this be screwing up the computer or something? any ideas?

i just filled her up with gas and it seemed to help, i think i found my problem...

Would water in the gas tank cause this kinda problem? im guessing it makes sence since when its parked all the water seperates from the gas and goes to the bottom and when i take off well from the shaking and turning etc... the water probably mixes up with the gas?

Do the additives they sell to remove water from gas tank actually work i kinda wanna try it see if it helps

Just run the tank dry.
Then you remove all the water.
Or you put some octane booster/fuel stabilizer to mix in the water a bit.
Any check engine light codes?

Find some HEET. Yellow bottle. Its methyl alcohol, binds the water to the gasoline, and gets it out of the fuel system. Otherwise, drop the fuel tank, and clean out the moisture and fuel remnants.

okay well i flusd the tank and swapped out the filter and it did not help . I am starting to think this is maf sensor problem.... As stated when engine is cold and i just fire it up i can do a few miles and its okay, once it warms up it cuts at varius rpm just like you are running out of gas, worst when i am hard on the gas, if i shut down the ignition and refire it up its good again for a few seconds then restarts bogging.

Also yesterday it was real cold out and was worst the normal, today is a bit warmer and its a bit better...

This i why i am starting to think that the maf is sending bad signals to the ecu.
