Engine bogs down

Thank you for reading my post, I gotta make it home from college by this weekend, any help is appreciated!

88 pickup 22rec automatic transmission.

The engine idles fine, but when driving the engine bogs down. The bogging down occurs around 30mph. Also, upon start-up sometimes the engine sounds like to much fuel is being released into a cylinder and a mini explosion happens, but once started idles smooth. I replaced the plugs and plug wires and the EGR valve. When replacing the plugs, I noticed 1 of the 4 plugs had fuel on it as opposed to the other 3 that were dry.

Any insight to my problem?

Thank you all for your help.

Does it smell like it is running rich, like one cylinder isn't firing? But you say it idles smooth? Can you tell if it is missing at all?

If you have a miss, maybe check your cap/rotor, since you did not replace it.

Are you able to check the timing?

Did this happen all of a sudden? Or has the truck been sitting while you've been at school and you are just now getting it running again?

Running rich, I don't think so, but I prolly couldn't tell.
Yes idles very smoothly.
I cannot tell if it is missing.
Im pretty much a novice, so I have no clue how to check the timing.
I only drove it on the weekends till recently and that was for about 4 months. Its seemed to have happened all of a sudden.

You can check the computer for codes. It involves putting a paperclip between two terminals of a connection block, on the passenger side inner fender...then turning your ignition on. The engine light will flash in your instrument panel according to the code(s) it is storing.

Do a quick search on how to do it, and how to read the codes. If you have a Chilton or Haynes manual, it will tell you in there too.

Its a place to start...

Here is for the jumper: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...CheckConnector
It is the T and E1 terminals

Does the truck downshift when you try to accelerate at 30 or above?

How does it run otherwise? I mean, does it drive normal up to the 30mph mark where it starts to bog down? Does it accelerate fine, does it feel like it has normal power, etc?

It runs fine and drives normal up to 30 mph, and has normal power i would say.
I'm gonna check the computer then I'll repost.

The possible things i've considered wrong with it are: EGR valve(replaced), spark plugs and wires(replaced), O2 sensor, cap, timing, water in the tank.

Thanks for the link jstluise.

Ok, I did the diagnostic check and the results are:

l...lllll
as in
blink........blink,blink,blink,blink,blink.

Which is a little confusing to me, as i do not see a 15 on the chart?

Is this just an O2 sensor replacement? Seems similar to a problem I've had with a previous vehicle, but this seems worse than that occasion.... hmm

There is not a 15, but there is a 51.

"Switch Signal"

Could be your throttle position sensor.

Someone else will chime in about code 51...
