HC reads 311 allowed is 179=epic fail
CO% reads 8.49 allowed is 2.22=another epic fail

got the NO ppm down to 322 with the denatured alcohol 1161 is allowed

going to do the sea foam thing, changed the wires last year,i guess i'll do the plugs.any suggestions what type?

and yes i did a search, between my adult add and hijacked threads i couldnt take it.
thanks for the help

88 runner 3.0, 300,090 mi. 15.5 mpg's

Just went through something similar with my 22RE. I guess our requirements are different in Nevada as we're only allowed 1.20% CO and 220 HC. Mine was 1.32 CO and 268 HC "missed it by that much". Anyway, I took it on the highway and ran it at near wide open throttle for about 60 miles, then took it directly to the smog place and it passed. Reason is the catalytic converter needed to be blown out. I drive mostly city and cat's are less efficient at lower speeds. Try running seafoam and/or premium fuel and blow it out and then retest. Might be suprised...

Just a thought, but .........

I was told to remove my brand new Denso 02 Sensor before running the seafoam, because all that crap runs right into it. And...., after doing 2 intake treatments, it did improve the numbers at the smog station. Keep in mind, I'm in CA, ....it's not that easy for older codgers like my 257K Mi. 22REC to pass, lol. I re-inserted the 02 afterward, and I was told by the smog guy, "Yep, good thing you removed it, ALL that steam and petrolium based solvent stuff can gunk up or even screw up the 02 Sensors, ....seen it before, many times." Who knows, could be nonsense, but it's SO EASY to remove and block off, ya know?

That looks like a dead kitty.Take the converter off and have them test it at the open pipe.Doubt you will see much difference.Nothing in a can is gonna help that.

I totally agree. In fact, that 10$ on the Can'o'whatever you use could go toward an 65$ CAT if that's what the issue is.

I really used it to try to clean up the injectors a lil and maybe some stubborn stuff elsewhere.... and it did help, a lil, but I ended up needing a new CAT, actually, about 2 weeks after doing the Seafoam.(not sure it's related, but when the CAT is done, especially a CA.GOV - CAT, .....fergetaboutit!, lol). Ended up rebuilding, anyway, as well, lol.

thanks for the reply guys,
they are doing 2 test 1 at 25 mph and 1 at 15.after doing the plugs and seafoam and btw the cat is 1 year old my numbers passed on the 15 mph test and only failed in the no category in the 25 mph test. NO reading 1763 allowed 1161..also i was running 1/2gas 1/2 denatured alcohol.got closer will the egr valve make the difference here?

yes it could, theres an egr valve, an egr trancducer, could be either or both. pull the vac line off the top of egr valve (while engine running) and (for lack of better way to say) suck on the line, if the valve is working proper the engine should stumble and die, if it stalls, then check the egr tranducer which is about like 2 inches away. i havnt quite figured out how to post pics yet or i would give a couple good views
