EB 268 Cam: rougher idle?

For anyone that is using the EB 268 cam: are you experiancing a slightly rougher idle?

My 22RTE is running pretty nice(apart from the turbo blowing oil), but my idle is just a little off. I've tried adjusting the timing, and checked for vacuum leaks, but nothing.

It only seems to be rough at idle, as soon as I get on the throttle it quiets down, and pulls pretty nice.

Somone correct me if im wrong but usually when you go for a more aggressive cam your idle will be rougher..

You nailed it. A more agressive cam such as Ted's 261 or 268 will give you a more "chattery" idle.

Yup it's normal.

Ever hear a v8 with an agressive cam? Sounds like it want to stall out.

From my emails with Ted, the 268 is supposed to have a nice smooth idle, but the 261 can be a little lopey.

One thing you might check is pull the vac line off the EGR valve and see if it smoothes out. I swear I read somewhere about a guy with a different cam that pulled a little too much vacuum at idle, opening the EGR valve slightly.

I have the 268 and I am yet to get the idle right. I will have to check the EGR tomorrow. Which line on the EGR do I cap off or put a bearing in?

Not permanently or anything, but pull the line off the EGR valve itself and plug the hose, otherwise there WILL be a vac leak. Not sure if you have a 22R or RE, but the EGR valve is on the passenger side, at the back corner of the head by the firewall.

In this pic, it's the round thing that's kind of gold colored. In this case it isn't hooked up. On yours, pull the hose off the round metal part and plug the hose end. It's fine to leave the part you pulled it off of unplugged.

Not fimaliar with the EB 268 but I assume 268 is the duration. Rougher idle is to be expected.
