e-brake light getting annoying
When I start up in the morning, take the e-brake off on my 87 truck and head on my way. But, the E-brake which is the pull type, keeps moving out apx. 2 cm just so the light pops back on, then I push it back into the dash and it goes off. This goes on wherever I go and I just want it to stay put haha. I searched and didnt find anything so please

Go under the truck, look on the passenger side, near the t-case. You should see the union between the front e-brake cable and the rear.
tighten up the slack with the nut on the long threaded shaft.

Mine started doing that.
What happened was the front cable was starting to break and had started to fray and pushed the cable enough so the light would come on.
Something to look at maybe.

unplug the e-brake light...lol jk but back in the day when my dad couldnt figure out why his check engine lights were on but his engines ran fine he would take the bulbs out...used to get him through inspection but not now with the obd doohickey things...
... i think there is a sleeve that goes over the e-brake handle shaft somewhere under the dash, just squeeze it with pliers a little bit, wont solve the real problem, but it will keep the handle from sliding out a bit

I would do what Jay351 said, plus that brake assembly under the passenger gets really dirty and rusty. I would clean and lube it up. If it still does it after that tape a piece of LEGO on the brake stop.

RE.. I know that but when you're low on brake fluid your truck will let u know via the ebrake light. Worked for me. Though my light was on constantly and I couldn't turn it off even by pushing the button.
I topped off the master cyl and the light turned off immediately.
