Lots more to think about than just dual cases...
Dual case adapter 23 spline
4.7 gears (get 23 spline)
Twin stick
Crossmember
HD detent springs
speedo cable extensions
Chromoly output shaft
fluids
labor
etc
Never built a MC dual case adapter but done plenty of TGs...never had an issue.

Marlin has a stronger dual row bearing. Is that significant for you? Maybe, maybe not.
Marlin is the innovator, TrailGear is the Walmart. Does that matter to you?

well, these are very good points, thank you.
i am going to build a cross member my self. i dont need all the HD springs.
i dont like the twin stick idea (just my opinion, its pointless to me.)
dont want the chrome oly stuff either.
i will be doing it myself
already thought of getting the speedo extension.
and i think the 21 spline would be good for me.
so i think "walmart" it is. not sure tho,
i have heard that marlin has EVERYTYHING for the conversion, and trail gear has MOST of what you need...
what doesnt come with the trail gear kit?

You need to research. Check marlins site. The statement you made about not needing the HD detent spring proves it. There is a difference it the way the gears are cut, Marlin uses the same pattern as the OEM that is designed which forces the gears to stay meshed by gear shape. Marlin patented the design for this cut on the his kit. Trailgear can't use the design yet so the compensate for the gears kicking out by heavier detent springs.
So search. Been years since I did so my facts may be off.

I bought mine through Advanced Adapters. They tried selling me the spedo extension saying I would need it. turns out I didn't so glad I disn't dish out the extra $ for it. helped one of my buddies assemble a trailgear kit. Wish i would've went that way. cheaper and better customer service.

just the adapters. i dont want to do gears just yet.
and yes. 21 spline would be plenty. my buddy has 21spline. 38's 470's and 529's
and we beat the out of it and have yet to break it. so im pretty sure my non geared case plus my 31's will do just fine...
i think im going to go with trail gear. plus my buddy can get me a discount through them..
