Driveshaft Length

Can anybody tell me if a driveshaft off of a 99 tacoma extended cab will fit my 89 extended cab pickup? Both have manual transmissions and both are 4x4.

Tape measures are amazing instruments.

Im asking here because the 99 is over an hour away and id like to have an idea before I make the drive over there. The guy that has the truck is out of town so cant measure it.

Just about every different engine/tranny/cab style/bed length, ect has a different driveshaft. Even in same year models.

To expect that a truck made 10 years later has the same exact driveshaft is wishful thinking, although I wouldn't bet my life on it.

Still no substitute for measurement. As long as any prospective replacement is longer, a shop can easily shorten it.

More than likely: no.

V6 lengths are different from I4, axle placement is different, transmission types can vary.

The bolt patterns should be identical, so you can always take it to a shop and have them lengthen/shorten it.
