my rear ends sages. (dead give away for a second gen.) Im in the market for a suspension kit. Ive been thinkin either OME or DOWNEY. i just installed a downeys kit on an 85 4wd truck. It seemed pretty nice ....well alot nicer than the ranchos . Im lookin for everything , coils, shocks and stabilizer.....torsions are ok.

Ive been leaning toward ome but, before i deside i thought i should check with yota'ers with personal experience with one or the other......anyone have any pros or cons about either..

how much travel is noticable ....basically was there any kind of lift after you installed it or was it just level.

Same travel as before...maybe a little more. Not much more from an IFS setup. I'll let you decide for yourself. First pic is stock. Second is with 31x11.50 tires.

you're gonna get a broad spectrum of opinions here....

personally, i have the downey hd coils in back and OME tbars up front and love the combo. see my sig.

I have the same dilema. The rear of my 4runner is slightly sagging, and I was looking for a lift anyways..so I was going to get 1.5" sdori BJ spacers which I would guess would lift it about 1.5 inches. Which would give me 1.5" over stock in the rear? OME coils? Downey HD coils? Spacers? I know there are tons of threads on this, but I couldnt find specifics on heights from OME to Downey.

don't get spacers for the rear; band-aid "solution". replace the coils themselves.

OME all the way -I have it & Love. Another guy on here got downey's & they sagged.

my downey HDs haven't sagged a spec; you'll find negative comments about the OME springs, too. the OME kit from strap22 is a good deal. i don't think you'll go wrong with either option. just go for it.

don't get spacers on the rear. that's stupid. if you wanted the extra height over downey or ome coils, just get sum land cruiser coils, and there's hella info here on that.

I got me OME 901 HDs and they rock for the purpose. they're only about 1.5" longer than the 15-year-old squished stock springs (both yanked out and unweighted), but the Runner sits 2" higher in the rear after the install. the OME's are sweet and I got a jerk on the line at Downey, so he gave me a bad impression.

I had custom coils wound when I had coils on my old 95, they were 325 and built to my spec by national spring. I really liked them.

OME claims the ride is better than stock, so I dont think you can go wrong there either.
