double tcase on my 4cyl(have searched)
hey guys,
well I tried searching but didnt find much usefull crap. I have a 94 22re and wondering what it would take to double up the tcase. im not positive but I am pretty sure mine is the gear driven case already(is this true?) any input would be good, I guess I would need a shorter drive shaft or something, what else do I need other than another tcase

Yeah you need a shorter rear shaft, longer front shaft. I just had mine retubed, it wasn't too much $$. Marlin has all the info on dual cases:

There is also Inchworm:

Marlin is going to have a lot more thorough tech on your questions:
http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/tra...ansfercase.htm
That said, you do have a gear driven case... so that's a start.
You need to find another gear driven case, and then get an adapter to connect them both together. A good idea is to put a lower gear (4.7) in the back case for more options.
You will need a shorter rear DS, and a longer front DS.
You also have to address the crossmember. There are many potions for that though. Marlin, BudBuilt, All-Pro, TG... to name a few.

is it worth it to bother? I mean say I can get the other case for cheap , I still need an adapter and drive shafts, crossmember... I mean what are the actual advantages other than I can get out , take a piss drink some beer and walk five feet and get back in, all without takin it outta gear

The only true advantage of a dual case setup is just that... super crawl ability.
if you don't stall much with the stock setup, just throwing in a 4.7 gear would be a huge difference.
Mind you, 5th L would be close to 1st L now. If you tend to shift into 4L when you hit the trails, you'll be shifting up to 4H often for more speed between obstacles.

if your a short wheelbased yota. you'll need to rotate your rear pinion to run a cv driveshaft (maybe depending on your lift). If you don't the angle of your driveshaft will be to extreme for highway speeds, will not be an issue if trail rig only. You'll also need to reinforce/limit your motor mounts or driveside as a minimum.
What the do you mean you searched but can't find information? I just did a quick yota tech and google and found all kinds of stuff.

Good info Jason, I edited my post. Are you using 23 spline cases?

Did your truck have ADD? If so, then you probably have the same "oddball" combo that I have. The G58 and chain drive case are weak. You might wanna look into a stronger tranny and gear drive cases
