Does anyone have a Hurst Shift Knob on their 5 speed 4runner??
Hey guys, I love those cue ball looking hurst shift knobs and was wondering if anyone has one on their 4runner...and where you might have gotten it? I know that the thread is m12-1.25. I'm not talking about the pistol grip, or t handle, just the cue ball looking knob. I think it would look sick! Anyways if you know anything hit me back! Thanks!!!

Quickest and easiest thing to do would be go get a real 8 ball, and drill it out, and use a tap and die that matches the thread on the shifter. I did it on my 83 Camry, and that had a t-handle automatic shifter on it!

I got one of the cheap Ebay ones, they come with a sleeve & set screw so rather than screwing on the set screw holds it on there. Quite happy with it, the old OEM one got pretty torn up by the previous owner.

In I recall right - the T handeled one comes with "adapters" to screw it onto multiple cars.
But the 10mmx1.25 does not exist; 10mmx1.5 does.
I would take any one of the three adapers that came with it, use two prices of "soft" plastic to clamp it into a vise, and then retap the threads to 10mmx1.25.

A friend of mine makes custom shift knobs for the Subaru community, normally they have a groove at the bottom to hold up the shift boot but he accidentally cut the groove off of one....
like it was made for it.
Perhaps some day, with enough interest, I can get him to cut off the boot groove from some others.

He only makes them a couple of times a year, next time he gets ready to do a run, I'll check with him, perhaps get him to put a bit of a taper on the bottom so it looks cleaner. and of course I'll have to check the rules and regs about selling such an item here.
