do i have abs?

94 4runner.i have seen pix that the rear sensors are located out near the drums.i bought a new 3rd and said i did not have antilock brakes.it came with a freezeplug in the 3rd member housing top.i removed a sensor from the top of the old 3rd and put it in the new(pulled the freezeplug)
is there a timing ring or something i am missing inside now?
did i do something very wrong here?

If you had a sensor in the top of the diff then you had rear abs. It has a timing ring on or near the ring gear I think. Only the 4 wheel abs has sensors on the wheels. 93s had rear abs and 95s had 4 wheel abs, don't know about 94s. Does the ABS warning light come on.

Then I wouldn't worry about it. If you want to try the ABS hit the brakes hard on wet roads. You should feel it in the pedal if they're working.

Just don't try this when someone is behind you

Just looked at the manual, it doesn't say anything about a timing ring, looks like it uses the ring gear, in which case the new 3rd will be OK.
