Dissolve Intake/EGR Carbon?
Is there a product (other than a chisel) to break up or dissolve carbon built up inside intake port to EGR. '88 22re has a bit at egr and carb cleaner doesn't appear to be dissolving carbon. Also want to clean carbon I can't see inside port. Thanks in advance.

Brush carbon
Was thinking about metal bristle test tube type brush to get down into port that wasn't visible? The loosened carbon would then have to find it's was out the combustion chamber?

Remember the EGR has a rubber diaphram (SP) in it.....
I bought a gallon can of carb soak/ cleaner with a basket inside.
I proped up the EGR so rubber pieces would not be effected.
Other parts I soked in brake cleaner.
and the intake I used oven cleaner.
Have fun.

Mineral spirits. Let it soak overnight (no rubber or plastic parts) and then clean out with a wire brush. If the passageway is completely plugged, I'd try to at least make a hole though the passageway with a wire first, then the soaking can do a much better job. Good luck.
