I'm 90% sure this is the way i will go, unless someone gives me a compelling reason this is NOT a good idea.

Any progress on the separate e-brake caliper setup? This sounds promising.

I guessing the new 4Runners rear disc setup is pricey.
I recently purchased a Kodiak mechanical caliper, meant for a large trailer. So, as of now, I'm looking into making a transfercase brake for under $150. Caliper I am using is a full caliper unlike the trailgear/sky and cost 80$ locally. Now I need to source a disc of the proper size, or have a piece cut out for this project.

Edit:
The Caliper pictured above, would not work, it rubbed the wheel, and clearancing those calipers is not an option because of their design.
I ended up using single piston front calipers from an 1980 Corolla, i will get into specifics in my build thread when i get the parking brake set-up.

I like this progression... since I have my SFA calipers to put on the rear, and can still potentially add an ebrake

Not Toyota, I don't want to carry extra tools that aren't metric. I'll be updating my build thread with the ebrake fab stuff.

Well I ended up going with Supra brakes...but...seems like I was onto something....
92 Subaru Loyale Calipers.

I am never satisfied with my brakes, this may be a future mod.
