a simple google search reveals the method. but i'll help out.

Find your diagnostic plug. flip it over, find TE1 and E1. put 1 end in each. ( dont push it too far in ) and then go into the truck, turn over the ignition and count the blinks. it'll either do short, or long blinks. depending on the amount of digits.

you jump E1 and TE1
turn key to on and wait of the blinks
the short blinks give you the 1st number. like if you get two short blinks that would be 2
followed by longer blinks. which gives you the next number. like two long blinks would be 2

code is 22

if you screwed around and been randomly jumping random pins. umm with no jumper does the check engine light still come on with key on. if no start checking fuses. lastly randomly jumping pins can lead to firing your ecu..... maybe lol

Sounds exactly like what was happening when my AFM got unplugged by accident on my '88 4runner. Make sure the Air Flow Meter is plugged in correctly.

Since you said you only have T and E1, I'm assuming its an '87 or '88. Put the ends of the paperclip in those two terminals.

86 and below is different then 87 and above. I looked at your profile and didnt see what year you have. Here is a pic of the two jumped. The diagram on the right of the jumper shows where the 2 are located.
