Right on. I'm still building a reference section for when I do mine. I owe -alot- to this forum, and I know that when I do mine, I'll prolly have the netbook out there in the garage next to me, all loaded up with YotaTech.

Oh yeah, with a new air filter and spark plugs (the old ones were nasty and gapped at like .07) It seems to be running with a bit more umph. The valves still need to be adjusted so there still might be a little more effeciency left in her, but yeah I've been driving her for the last couple of days without a hitch.

no sealant used for the head gaskets, they are made to seal when torqued to specs, although the Heads do require some sealant in KEY Locations around the cam shafts per the fsm

Dont be afraid to run a bead of RTV around the whole valve cover. Mine were leaking so bad I would have to add a qt of oil every 700miles.

RTV in the can (pressurized) is amazing.

The copper spray on is no good....

I used it on all my "other", read CJ5, chebby rebuilds...

Spray the Head gasket, both sides a few times, let it dry apply???

Is this AFU for Toyota Head gaskets??

any local auto parts store should be able to help with what you need
I purchased my head gaskets and bolts from O'Reilly's the head gaskets were $60.00 each and the bolts were $30.00 per kit 1 kit per head, however the bolts didn't come with spacers, you will have to reuse you spacers that is on each head bolt.

You can also check with engnbldr ( http://www.engnbldr.com ) That's where I plan on getting everything from. I think the gasket kit from Ted there is like 139, but they are steelfaced gaskets ( better quality ) and also higher grade headbolts ( you can reuse them, they won't stretch like OEM stuff does )

( this is straight from Ted @ EngnBldr, from an email he sent me when I was asking questions back when I almost had money to start fixing my poor truck.)

Just giving you another option.

I think that is a TVV (1) nipple goes to the charcoal purge, and the other nipple to the throttle body on top, if you don't replace it you will get a gas smell that you will not be able to pinpoint.I know this because I broke mine the nipples get brittle over time with the amount of heat in that area

I purchased one off ebay used for $15.00 + shipping and it works great

wow big laughs on that. the same thing broke on mine. I got it switched out with another one on ebay. It knocked the build up back a week but definitely worth getting off of ebay. Yeah Toyota sells it for $85 and I got one that came off a supra for around $15 shipping and all.
