I think the insurance co's should have to pay us back all the premiums we paid in if we never filed a claim when we stop doing business with them. I wouldn't feel that way if insurance was a choice but since it's required by law they should refund your premiums if you never used the service. Glad you got a settlement you're happy with.

probably belongs in a different thread....

Insurance is a reverse gamble.
You are BETTING that you are going to LOOSE so that you can COLLECT...

Its the wrong way to look at it IMHO.

You get insurance to cover a financial loss that you cant sustain.
You should NOT buy insurance to "win" when ya "loose"

So you get insurance to pay off the loan when you still owe payments on the car - that part makes sense.

If yer smart and pay off the car - they in theory you are banking the car payments that you are no longer making (minus operating expenses of maintaining the older car).
At some point the "comp" part of the insurance costs more than the "burden" of having to make car payements again...

In other words...

You should think about the montly cost of a car
-- payements
-- insurance
-- maintenance
Once the payemnets are done you should be BANKING the payments ya would have been making. Once that pool is large enough you are "self insuring" .

Sure - if ya lose the vehicle ya might have to go back to payements again - or if ha had banked the money (or better yet - invested it) then you might be able to get a car with "cash"...

soapbox mode off

glad to hear the OP got what they needed out of the deal

Anything I should tell the insurance company to collect more money? I'm going to price the lift, tires, wheel, etc. Any opinions?
Where was this? In Fayetteville or Kansas?
