Dashpot replacement
Hey guys. I’m having a hell of a time finding a PN for the Dashpot. All I can seem to find is the later generation 22re motors online, but nothing for 87 and older (my truck is 87). Mine ate it this weekend and was a major annoyance. I can’t even find it on the parts drawings. Anyone purchased one, or can find a PN would be really appreciated.

Does it look like this one? https://parts.toyota.com/p/Toyota_19...220235271.html
no. That’s why the link you send specifies that it does not fit an 87.
here’s mine

I should have guessed you would pull through for me. Looks like it’s discontinued. Womp womp. I peeled the plastic dust shield off mind and that MAY have redneck fixed it, basically it was sticking my throttle at 15-1700 ish until I tapped the gas and got it to settle back. Might have to hit the parts yards.

that was my trail fix this past weekend out at jamboree. worked until i could get back to camp and see what exactly was happening. i tore off the plastic boot and hit it with a drop or two of WD and it may have "fixed it" for now honestly. that east texas hill country red dirt likes to gum up the works.

fwiw, one of my '87s doesn't have the valve and hose assembly that attach to the outlet tube on the dashpot. been that way since i bought it in 2013. my other '87 has the complete assembly, and it works (and the dashpot works on the one missing the valve/hose, because i tried the valve/hose from the complete unit).

It might not be the dashpot's fault. I found the sticking high idle was due to a dirty throttle body. Five minutes with Goof-off and a papertowel and all was better.
With the dashpot installed, it keeps the throttle from snapping back hard enough to close the plate against the built up goo. Remove the goo and it might improve. Mine did.
And yes, I'm in the Nanny State so the dashpot must be retained.
