Post Dashboard additional buttons?

'ello there,

Was wondering, what goes on these little square boxes on the dash? I have a 1990 pickup base model (non-ac, engine 22re, 299k miles , non luxury)

Here's A) right side of driver

and B) left side of driver

Also, been broken into three times now, caught guys in act once, other two my expensive parking permit was stolen and last time they just scouted the interior... Thinking of adding blinking dot in there. http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062571

Should help 'deter' some people, no?

And the square on the far left is for a clutch start cancel.

Oh ya and the little square next to the heater is for a/c button

And the one under the hazards is for rear defrost on 4runners

Not sure about the one next to the clutch start cancel, think its somthin fog light, or auto trans related???

Where'd you recommend for a led flasher to be, resembling a car alarm? I'm thinking under the emergency lights, or left side above interior cluster light?

I have noticed an led flasher in the port second from left, next to the clutch cancel, on some 4runners with factory alarm

I put my alarm LED where the hazard switch is and put the hazard switch upside down in the lower spot. Much more visible from outside the truck that way.

Thanks!~ I'm sick of these break-ins. Rigged read sliding windows and engine so it wont start just semi-cranks... Now need to work my wiring for this led.

Ya I threw a disconect switch under the dash. It interrupts the clutch safety circuit. And disconnected the clutch cancel start switch. Its a hidden switch and when its off the truck will not start. No matter what combination of hot wiring you could possibly do at the ignition, it will not start. Wont even crank over.

Its a very simple mod.

Why would they make a truck with no clock? How much more could that have cost? I mean, they had to pay for that little plastic panel to fill the gap.

Pretty much. And that clock aint nothin special either.

I actually found that a 91 ford taurus dash clock fits in there just right.

Any pics? You should add that to the 'best cheap mods' thread.

They even have it wired for the clock, my truck didn't have one either and I got sick of it and installed one.

I have no battery in the truck right now. It does work. If I remember theres 3 wires. 1 for the dash lights(backlight), 1 for +power, and a ground.

Well it does fit just so, always wanted to fix the gap in the top.. But the real miracle is you can't see it when sitting up in the seats.

The plug houses the led light for the alarm and has the valet button built in to turn the alarm on or off. It is toyotas factory alarm.
