Cup Holder

I have a 1990 Truck with the pull out cup holders (that block the AC vent), one of the metal brackets has gone missing, so when I insert a beverage, it falls through; I tried to create a replacement using a coat hanger, but the gauge was not thick enough, and it didn't stay in place.

Can I order these metal brackets by themselves, or do I need a replacement cup holder assembly? Where can I obtain this part, the dealership ($$$)? Also, does anyone know what years had this cup holder style? It seems pre-1990 trucks had no cup holder, and later years had them in a center console?

idk about you, but in my 90 4runner i dont have metal brackets... its a piece of flat plastic that drops down when you pull out the holder... just an FYI...

Troy, next time you pull out the holder look at the inside top corners where the flat plastic peice connects to the top piece, youll see the little metal peices the OP is speaking of..
but yeah, you can probably get a 5 finger discount on one at a boneyard..

when i first got my truck it was missing both, and when i got my 4runner it had one homemade jobby in it, i think it was the shaft of a long nail.

anyways, after a couple trips the the junkyard both trucks had the factory pieces in them..

another good thing to do is pull the front dash facia off and gently pry out the air vents from behind and get those little air vent bushings, because if you ever pull yours out, chances are that they will crumble into dust..

ttyl!

I remember discussing these in a previous thread a while back...

I would say a junk yard is probably your best bet, but I had seen entire cup holder assymbely's on eBay as well

I hardly use mine. Seems ridiculous to place a cold drink in it during the winter because your heater will warm it up in no time. In the Summer I guess it's not so bad, but out here I need all the air flow I can get.
