so im driving down the highway cruise set at 65 and im hummin along got to change lanes. use my turn signal of course, so as soon as i push the lever down to signal the cruise stopped! hmm odd i thought maybe i hit the button ! lets try again.... same thing ! wtf??? this is a first for me besides being in the steering colum what does one have to do withthe other ? anyway i havent changed anything with regaurds to those items ever! so if this has happened before could someone chime in. or if someone has a clue let me know ill start looking tomarrow!

you answered your own question- they're both in the steering column.

 

Im guessing wires rubbing against eachother.

 

x2 they could rub or bend and expose the copper leading to shorts sometimes they can just be too close and not shielded and interfere with each other. Open up the column and look em over.

 

Could also be a ground issue. I had a problem in my '85 where the cruise would drop out if I hit a good bump in the road. Turned out to be the ground wire connection in the driver's side kick panel area. 3-4 ground wires tie to a sheet metal screw there and I suspect one was loose and that caused the cruise to lose power briefly and kick off. Clue was that it had "forgotten" the set speed it had before and would not "resume". Might be something to check. I removed all the wires, wire brushed the ends, cleaned the paint from the sheet metal under the screw and put it all back together.

and heres the funny thing i had JUST done this to mine. i had a tail light out and thought hey ill move up lto leds. so ill find out tomarrow if this might be the problem. if it is maybe someone could explain to me why
