creaky clutch

my 2nd gen clutch pedal is creaking like the bones of methuselah!
(old dude).
I have lubed that sucker to no avail. it creaks both on the down and upswing.
it's not squeaking but creaking.
I spent a while upside down trying to get a clear view and photo of the problem. when I put my finger on the spring the creaking goes away, so it may have something to do with that. I am enclosing some pictures to get a better idea. thanks a lot for your advice- it makes the car sound 100 years old, when it looks so good it's a shame to sound so bad! thanks a lot in advance

Are you sure there isn't a crack in the plate where it mounts to the firewall? They are prone to cracking....

Mine used to creak like crazy, but using some grease on it did the trick...

clutch-creak

thanks TN- where exactly did you apply the grease, did you use a greasegun or do it by hand, what kind, directly on the spring? (I sprayed it with wd40 but not much of an effect)

I grease every moving part by hand....don't know exactly what fixed it but when it stopped I quit worrying...

exploded view of 2nd gen clutch pedal with part #s

does anyone have the link to the exploded view of the 2nd gen clutch pedal with part numbers?
I got several bushings for the clutch pin but they were the wrong ones.
I need the one that the linkage pin fits through. My creaking is coming from the metal on metal of the clutch pedal and the slave cylinder
thanks a lot!!!

Be sure it's your pedal that's squeeking or creaking. I thought my pedal was squeeking, but it was actually the slave cylinder. Have someone pump the clutch while you search the vehicle over. If it's the slave cylinder like mine was, just pull back the boot and soak with some WD40.

creaky clutch

HI ALLTERRAIN and thanks for your last post!
I have the bushing arriving today or tomorow and will install and check.
if it still doesn't fix it, I will try pulling back that boot...
would you recommend wd40 or lithium grease? I have heard that wd40 isn't always the most recommended lubricant-

the 2nd gen bushing, by the way, is much easier to replace than the 3rd.
all you have to do is pull the clip, remove the pin, replace the bushing on the far side, replace the pin, and replace the clip.

thanks a lot!! to all of you on this forum for helping me with my clutch

I used WD40 and it worked fine. Don't know if that's recommended though. Someone else knows I'm sure.

bushing troubles for 2nd gen clutch pedal

I am trying to replace the bushing attaching the master cylinder to the clutch pedal, but having troubles.

I get the clip off, remove the pin, and try to place the bushing into the far side of the clutch pedal, but it WILL NOT FIT.

I have called the part number in, and supposedly it is correct for the 2nd gen.

I am talking about what is listed as 31453B on the exploded diagram (attached). Apparently, for the 2nd gen, this is the 90386-08002.

if you have any ideas about which part might actually fit, that would be totally awesome. I have confirmed this part number with 2 dealers and they both say it is right. But, the bushing, is JUST TOO BIG to fit into the clutch arm! it's not flexible and the pin isn't long enough to reach through when I use the bushing.

thanks. I have confirmed that there is nothing in the hole blocking it too

I know the oem ones are spiral split, You can do that with a utilityknife and cut the extra needed out.
