Coolant temp gauge goes to extreme high
92 22RE
Last week after driving about eight minutes the temp gauge went to full hot and then as if the thermostat opened went to normal middle of the gauge range.
Replaced the thermostat. The engine temp sensor. Water pump. Belts. And fan clutch. Drove it for a few days with no issues. Yesterday morning the same thing happened again at the same eight minute mark.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

or just cut the little "jiggler" valve thingy off the thermostat / drill a small hole in it. The problem lies in either the AAV or the throttle body coolant passages. They get plugged full of crap and don't flow coolant. The coolant they are supposed to flow is the coolant that is supposed to flow near the thermostat to make it open. So if you get rid of the little jiggler valve thingy or drill a small (less than 1/8") hole in the t-stat, water will flow past the the thermostat and it'll work normally again.
