Yes, it is. And the best place to get it is Walmart. It was just over $9 for a jug; $1+ less than Autozone.

I also recommend the Redline Water Wetter treatment. I went for a 70% distilled/30% coolant mix for added performance.

Then I most definitely will stick to my green coolant/water mix.

Yeah, where do you get DI water, Tom? Last time I tried to take the garden hose into the cleanroom the operators looked at me funny.

Grocery Stores carry it in the water section, there's drinking water, spring water and distilled water.

ok so I've never done this before.

1) locate drain plug at bottom of radiator, and drain coolant.
2)refill with water, and run engine, and heater until clear water comes out of the drain hole.
3) drain water
4) refill with 50/50 toyota red/distilled water
5) burp system, by squeezing top radiator hose?

does that cover it? Or did I miss something?

TIA

I was told that if you flush all the red out, you can run anytype of green antifreeze. Is that true or bunk?

You might want to get some coolant flush and mix it in with your first water fill and engine turn on.

Others might have opinions on the flush chemicals but I decided to do it since I had some pretty ugly/nasty stuff in the system from the previous owner.

I've heard from a Toyota tech that the red and green Toyota coolants should not be mixed otherwise you may produce gel. If you started with green, hopefully you got it all out before you added the red.
