Consistantly decreasing Idle

Alright... so here's my issue. ( I searched first, but didn't find anything related to this ) Feel free to relocate if I don't have this in the right spot.
**Search list**
-Rough idle
-Dropping Idle
-Constant Idle Adjustment
-Poor Idle
-Various assortments of those listed above

I have a 94 4Runner SR5 (4X4) 3.0 VZE, and for whatever reason I have to keep backing out my idle adjust screw to increase the idle ( I know.. dumb right, that's what it's supposed to do )

However, the problem is that even if I back it out, make it idle at a grand or so when it's warm, after a while, ( by a while, I mean days or weeks, not a few minutes ) I have to back it out again, because it'll only idle @ or around 500 RPM's. I also consistently have sputtering problems. It's erratic sometimes, but it usually seems to happen after a long drive ( long meaning 12-15 miles @ freeway speeds ) and then parking to say, go to walmart and then leaving. I'll be going through the parking lot, and when I hit a stop sign, the truck starts to chug and buck, and if I don't touch the gas, it'll eventually stall ( usually pretty quick too.. it only chugs 3-4 times before the rev's drop low enough to stall. I'll restart it ( fires right up ) bring it up to 4-5 grand, and it'll run fine, and typically run fine for a while.

The weird thing is.. it doesn't happen all the time. There are times that this won't happen at all.

Also, sometimes when it get's cold(er) out, the truck will misfire until it's warm. Sometimes it only takes a couple minutes, sometimes it's 5 minutes... but it's defiantly misfiring until it's ran for a bit.

Suggestions and ideas for things to replace/check?

I -know- that I -need- to replace the plugs and wires probably. I'm also thinking that it could possibly be a fuel filter that needs replacing. The CEL is on, but I can't get it to throw any codes when I jump the terminals and turn the key on. ( dunno why, it baffles me )

The other odd thing ( and less important in my eyes ) is that if the truck isn't up to normal temp ( temp gauge in the middle ) the truck WILL NOT shift out of 3rd. Ever. Also dunno why. It's the oddest thing. Once it's warm though, boom there's the other drive gears.

Thoughts?

Hey Bud,

I'll think about this one, but since you can't get the codes, all I can suggest for now is to use the troubleshooting section for the ECU in the FSM and measure the resistance and voltage for each sensor. I know you're pretty good with electricity so you should be able to figure this out. I'll PM you. Take care,

Bugs
