Clutch? problem....

My tranny won't go in gear with the motor running. I've got a marlin crawler clutch kit with about 1000 miles on it in the truck the pedal feels kind of funny, not sure how to explain it, it just feels a little different.

I tried bleeding the slave, and adjusting the pedal, nothinng changed.

If you start the truck in gear, the starter moves the truck

Not really sure what's wrong, I'm hoping it's not the clutch.... anyone have any suggestions? Master cyl maybe?

your clutch fork might be cracked or bent. youve gotta drop the tranny to check it.

Friction plate? Is that the same as a pressure plate?

The problem happened out of nowhere, it wasn't anything that got progressively worse

Ive got clutch issues too and in my research ive found that sometimes the clutch pedal bracket can crack or split and the clutch doesnt function proberly. This could explain the odd feeling clutch. Theres a couple threads on here regarding this issue.

being that its sudden, i would start by checking the clutch bracket, then check to make sure the mast. and slave cyls are actually moving, and if worse comes to worse, pull the tranny and check the fork.

best way to check the master is to open the fluid cap and watch the fluid while someone moves the clutch pedal. if the master is working, lay on the ground and watch to see if the slave is moving the fork while someone is pressing the clutch. if both are working properly, then youll have to pull the tranny and check

I welded the pedal bracket back together about 3 years ago when I got the truck, but I guess that doesn't mean it didn't break somewhere else :/

I'lll check that out tonight, and check the master, slave and fork this weekend.

The friction plate is the actual clutch part with the fiberglass materials...
The pressure plate is the plate that has pressure against the friction plate..

The friction plate only goes on one way, but can go on the other way and just won't work right..

Oh, I gotcha.... I don't see how the clutch would of been put on backwards... the pedal bracket appears to be fine, I can't feel a break in it, and it doesn't flex when the pedal s pushed.... tomorrow I'm gonna check the master and slave

You should be getting about 1 inch of travel at the slave. I'd guess it's either the slave or master although I recently had similar symptoms that turned out to be grenaded springs on the friction plate.
