Clutch fork floating??

Seems like my clutch bracket is good and a fellow pulled a rubber boot underneath the truck and said the clutch fork is floating.Guess this would explain the non/or hard shifting? How long to pull the tranny on my 86 Toyota truck 4x4 2.4 and check and repair this?Could it be the clips on the fork and is there a spring there?

Yes.

I'll let others chime in on the R&R of the transmission of a 4x4. I've done it on my 2WD.

And on my 88 4x4, the starter removal was the worst part for me, then the 2nd worst was the two bolts at the top of the trans. When i did mine, i just took out my drivelines, supported the transmission/transfer case, undid the lines, wire connectors, and bolts,(undid everything) then undid the bolts on the crossmember, and dropped transmission/t-case as one unit. A tranny jack is an awesome tool to have, or rent, lemme tell ya.

My friend looked inside and saw metal particles and said it's likely from the throwout bearing,so I guess it's time for an Aisin clutch kit when money is available.
