Which clutch do you like for a daily driver?
Hi,
Truck: 1993 V6 4x4 SR5 5-Speed with factory 31x10.5s
Which clutch do you like for a daily driver? I am still on the original after 245,000 miles and I will need to address it in the next 6 months I think. The truck is a daily driver and does a bit of hauling/towing.
I have access to a good company discount at NAPA so I have been getting things there lately.
I expect there are some favorites or ones to avoid though. What do you like?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hello MaK92-4RnR,
Yep, Original clutch, 245,000 and counting. You make a good point though.
Is it a stepped flywheel on the 3.0? If I need to turn it, how much can I take off it or do just need to replace it?

The stock toyota clutch is the best for mostly on road driving. if you are a serious offroader you should look at Marlin clutches at www.marlincrawler.com

A little looking online got this.
(ToyotaPartsCheap.com) Mossy Toyota, San Diego, California. These guys are a dealer doing the wholesale price racket. (Which I usually like)
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0
OEM Clutch parts for the 3.0-V6
Disc: $61.79
Pressure Plate: $130.00
Pilot Bearing: $6.92
Release Bearing: $49.49
------------------------------
Total: $248.20
That seems not too terrible.
---------------------------------------------------------
A quick visit to the Marlin site shows me he has flywheels for much less than OEM. It looks like he uses the SECO/Aisin stuff too.
http://www.marlincrawler.com/clutch/...ch-kit-1800-lb
Total: $249.00 for the clutch set.
Snobdds, what do you like about the Aisin clutch. I like $70 in my pocket for sure but beyond that, why would I choose it? Does it have the Aisin disc or the Seco disc? I like the recommendations though.
Thanks,
Kevin

even if it is a daily driver, i would go with a heavier duty clutch from marlin. i have a 22re, and got the one rated at 1800ft/lbs. i love it. its a hair stiffer than stock, but i like clutch to be a little stiff. first time you drive it, you get used to it. it helps me wher ei got 35s on stock gears, and it woudl help you alot since you tow occasionally, plus, the heavier clutch is there when you need it
